A mediocre mini-arc with a very simplistic and annoying villain and no stakes at all, gosh, what a way to get back down to earth. Hoping for improvement in the next volume.
I really don't get why the Davy Back arc is getting so much hate because I enjoyed every bit of it!!! For me, it was rather a rewarding light and funny read after the dragging Skypiea adventure which I had a hard time getting through. In this volume, the Straw Hat Pirates meet the Foxy Pirates and participate in the challenge called the Davy Back Fight. The Davy Back Fight is like a mini competition between two pirate crews wherein the captain of the winning team gets to choose a crew member (or pirate flag) from the losing team. I think this arc was a nice break from the heavy fights, conflicts, and whatnots because there are a lot of funny moments that will surely make you laugh! What's more, AFRO LUFFY IS DA BOMB!!!
