➽ Volume 33 brings us the Davy Back Fight, an infamous pirate game where the winner doesn't take gold ... but crew members of their opponent. Luffy of course immediately agrees to fight Foxy, to Nami's utter horror. It's definitely a different kind of fight, as the competition is made up of three rounds of games against Foxy's crew. The Strawhwats are initially confident, but it turns out all sorts of sabotage and cheating is allowed in the game, so things are more difficult than they anticipated. I struggled a bit as I usually hate foul play and tricks like Foxy plays, the unfairness just aggravates me 🙈 However, I'm glad that the Manga doesn't show as many rounds of the game, the Anime really dragged things out too much!
➽ Despite being outraged at the game's unfairness, it was interesting to have a different kind of fight for the crew. We also got to see Zoro and Sanji have to work together despite all their bickering and play-fighting. It was such an important moment for them to have to put aside their rivalry to win the game! Despite Foxy being a sneaky cheat, his design and devil fruit powers were funny. Whenever the Strawhats deliver another verbal smackdown against him he starts getting depressed and it is so funny 😂 The volume ends with the big fight of Luffy vs. Foxy in an ultimate showdown to determine who gets to keep their crew!
