An awesomely depicted, demented, morbid book. We all read this In class. The beginning was a bit slow but we all got into it. Half of the class was scared or crept out by Tulip but me and my friend where fascinated by the morbid descriptions, of the burned down hotel, setting fire to chicken cages and drowning the kittens. The book sets an air of paranoia and the way its set out makes you suspect everything that happens is tulips fault but its not. I did not really enjoy the ending it didn't satisfy me.

This was a short book, with an expected plot, but asks some important questions.

Natalie becomes friends with this girl Tulip. She is mean and lies, but Natalie gets sucked into the vortex of her personality. The front cover is a big spoiler (which is annoying) and we see Tulip's games escalate. If this was written now someone would die, but this is a bit tamer but actually more creepy.

I thought this was pretty boring until the final act. Not because of the climax in the story, but the argument Natalie has with her parents.
Spoiler She asks why it is her job to rescue Tulip from her terrible household. All of the adults knew the situation, and actually had power to do something about it. Her dad says "we called social services" but that doesn't mean anything. Why do they turn to Natalie to save her, when the parents could have.
There is another argument about inherent evil in people, but that seems a bit more on the nose.

A pretty average book from my end, but that extra level really intrigued me and brought it up ti 3 stars.

I read this as a child/teenager (or might have had it on audiobook) and have always remembered it to some extent. It was just as sad and disturbing reading it again now, maybe more so.

It was brilliant. A thriller. You will be intrigued by tulip and all her little games. Watching her unfortunate down fall as she becomes increasingly more dangerous and twisted. On the edge of your seat brilliance. I have read it twice and will reread it again.
