This was a propulsive read. The story is set in the world of game developers - I do not play games, so this was completely foreign to me. The two  main characters, Sam & Sadie grow and change in believable ways across the 20+ years of the book. The portrayal of grief and the way it tears life apart was one of the better characterizations I’ve read.

Some scenes were a  bit too close to my own near death experience. I got a good cry then didn’t need to finish the book.

Sometimes I felt like themes or events were brought up and then quickly over. Some of them I don’t feel like brought much to the book. It does a good job of showing the complexities of friendship and growing up and how your lives change.
