I thought this book was beautifully written. I had to put it down several times to process the events. Zevin is a great writer and master at symbolism and parallels. But I can see why this book wouldn't be interesting to a lot of people. There is a lot of video game verbage. I myself don't play video games, however, the coming-of-age story and writing style was enough to keep me engaged. 4.5/5

3.5 rounded up - I really liked this book but it felt a little too unnecessarily long at points

Sometimes a book just really is as good as you've heard it is.
