This novel was wickedly funny and heartbreakingly real. Showing a different side of what it means to grow up on an Indian reservation. Shows that there is prejudice against Native Americans from those outside of the reservation and from other Native Americans when one tries to better himself. I found myself both laughing out loud at parts and getting emotional at others, just like real life. An excellent YA novel, for both the audience it was meant for and older ones as well.

A great children's book with plenty of action and suspense, yet an insightful view inside of life as a member of a marginalized and oppressed people group. Highly recommended reading for your 13+. Some sexual innuendo makes it less appropriate for younger ages.

Great YA read, because it's funny and has graet drawings, but it's also a story about noncomformity and overcoming hardships and rising above people's expectations.

This was such a charming, witty, emotional book. I LOVED listening to it read by the author and following along with a hard copy with the comics. I think a lot of people would benefit from reading TATDOAPTI.  #readbannedbooks

Not my genre, but this was really well-written with an interesting voice and perspective, and was very entertaining, as well as informative of a life experience that is vastly different from my own. I'd recommend for sure.

We read this is our book club because a high school in Oregon that we are familiar with banned it. I think it was banned due to the masturbation talk, which was about 1 1/2 paragraphs.
About the book: A great look into what it's like to have the odds stacked against you. It's very blunt and realistic about youth and racism and drunks and boners.
I would say the style is very Sherman Alexie and is much like books he's previously written. But I like the idea that he put it out there for youth.
