Another excellent book in this series. This time, a big environmental problem threatens Portland, but as protagonist Moss can get in touch with all sorts of spirits, big and small, over the course of the story he finds out more - and gets into danger more than once. Like in some of the other books of the series, activism and magic go hand in hand to solve this mystery and take some action against the threat. I liked the way how Moss's connection to the spirits is depicted (and I won't share details about that because of spoilers). Shaggy has a problem with a big decision she has to make. I was trying to guess what her decision might be in the end and it came as a surprise to me because many authors would handle this issue differently. To me, this was a welcome change.
Another character called Alejandro, who is the protagonist of the next book in the series, has some problems, too and I am curious if or how this will be taken up in his story.
