My rating: 3 out of 5 stars

This is a sweet and simple novella.
If you l like Jen Turano 's other books, you'll probably like this it.

It's a very short novella, so the romance is very quick. I don't love Insta-love stories, but I didn't mind it that much in "Grand Encounters." Myrtle and Jack shared a lot of similar interests and had similar goals, so it made sense that they fell in love.

I do wish that there hadn't been such a big misunderstanding between Jack and Myrtle . It caused Myrtle and Jack to spend a significant portion of the book at apart, in relation to how short this book is.

I think I would have enjoyed this novella more of it had just been a little bit longer. A few more romantic scenes between Myrtle and Jack would have made this book a little bit sweeter and little more interesting.

As it is, I think it's a nice story, but not the best Jen Tutano story.

Just a short, happy little novella. Less than 100 pages :)

The humor in Jen’s stories never fail to deliver and that is always my favorite thing about a Jen story. This one has it in spades! The story was sweet and moved well. Jack and Myrtle are great characters and I also enjoyed Walter and Ruthann and the rest of the supporting characters. Perfect story. This was originally published in the 4 in 1 novella collection "Serving Up Love: A Harvey House Brides Collection" and this was my favorite story of the set.

Oh, I needed that happy little read. :)

Jen Turano is an author that I save for when I need a happy book to read. While some other reviews have said her books aren’t very realistic because the the trouble the main girls get into, I personally love it and find those parts to be part of the charm. If any other author did it, I probably would roll my eyes a bit, I expect it from this author and it’s what makes her books for me.

My one complaint about this novella is just that. It was a novella. So short! It didn’t feel rushed like many other novellas I’ve read, so that was a good thing. Of course, I would have loved seeing this novella be a novel. ;)

I really liked both Myrtle and Jack, she was great (and while I don’t believe violence is the answer, I admire her creativity of using a book to protect herself) and he was awkwardly adorable.

Overall, it was a very fun read that lifted my spirits a bit. Makes me even more excited for the start of Jen Turano’s new series in a couple months.
