This is the first of Stephen King penned as Richard Bachman. The  printed standalone of this short novel is ridiculously priced so it’s better to try your luck with The Bachman Books (any edition before 97 I believe.)

It’s.. well it’s not great. Do I love it more than some other books? Sure I mean King is my favourite author. But will it be a running contender for the worst of the Batch? Probably.

My thoughts:
Characters: all the characters are stereotypes and there is no development whatsoever. Charlie Decker is not a sympathetic character and a bit of a douchebag. I mean some of the things we go through in school are relatable to this but that’s as far as it gets.

Pace: pace is slow and nothing really happens after a point.

Some things I liked:
The embarrassing scene with the girl when he went to a freshman party. The conversation with the school psychiatrist.

Things I didn’t like:
The ending, it’s awful I don’t understand
how on earth could the rest of the class root for this prick? Seriously? What they did to the poor guy, Ted I think his name was, it just was uncalled for.
