A really short novella with the subtleness of a sledgehammer, it definitely feels a bit rougher than previous King works I've read, and I wonder if the pseudonym had more to do with the coarser prose than the subject matter. Once you read the blurb you kinda get a sense for what the narrative possibility space is for this story, and it really doesn't stray from it. It's not terrible, I did read it in a day, but I'm glad it isn't longer.
