Seems like a powerful graphic story on resiliency and hope and drive. Not the graphic tension I want right now.

I mean - it was a fine crime drama - with a lot of it getting lost in the Danish to English translation, I think.
And if there’s anything we learned from “The Killing” - the Danish don’t really care about happy endings are are fine with their dark, depressing and drab crime stories.
I’m glad I won this in a giveaway, and I liked the characters of Carl and Assad. But, Carl is the stereotypical miserable cop with tragedy in his past and Assad is the fish out of water, unlikely assistant. The story is told from the perspective of Carl and the victim in the case he decides to investigate.
It was a bit hard to follow with the Scandinavian names and locations - and some of the dialogue was stilted because of the translations. And the actual device in question that impacts the victim’s life made no sense unless you have technical expertise.
I was excited for the series, but I don’t think I have a reason to continue with Department Q.

Of course, I watched the new show first, so I pictured Matthew Goode the whole time even though this original is set in Denmark. A great story and enough different from the Netflix adaptation that it was still a good mystery. I look forward to reading the others in the series.
Bra uppläsning men tv-serien kändes fräschare och mer rimlig än boken? Gillade dock Assad mer i boken
