I enjoyed this book. It wasn't a fun story, but I did like the investigative work that went into solving the cold case and how Department Q starts out. If you like "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo" books, you'll probably like this one. I think the writing is a little more coarse and characters maybe don't have as many layers, but similar premise and tone.

Oddly enough, the Netflix adaptation is better, but this is still an engaging thriller. Plus, the creators of the show changed enough that even someone who has already watched Department Q will get some surprises.

reading this after watching the show makes me glad that they took some creative liberties with the show. while still really good, this felt darker than expected
