The story was a little slower this time around, but still ready for the next!

Volume 2 was surprisingly better than volume 1 yet I still feel like something is lacking. The story progression really picks up in this volume and it snagged me to read volume 3.

I just adore this series. It's so unique a concept and it captures the feel of the area so perfectly.

While I enjoyed this volume, it felt like not a whole lot happened. Most of the plot was happening in the background, between the two main gangs trying to challenge the Winters' hold over Ash. It's building to something, and I think the third volume will make up in action what was lacking in this one. There's an interesting plot building regarding reverse-engineered Ash, and a very specific strain made for Grace that's being looked into, but each of these things were just lightly touched on, one per chapter almost, so you don't get anything beyond a taste of what's coming.
