I started off liking this one more than the first book, but then it just fizzled. Okay The dragons saved it and me able to finish. The cliffhanger made me annoyed, not because it’s a cliffhanger, those are fine. It’s because the cliffhanger made me say “are you for real right now? 🙄”.
I actually like Layala. I saw reviews people don’t like her. I don’t find her selfish. She’s a little harsher, and kinda feral but she’s fierce and loyal and strong. I think Thane is obnoxiously inconsistent and lacks a backbone.
Tif and the dragons are the best part of this book. I dunno why people hate on Tif, she’s hilarious and my favorite character.

Dragged on. Wasn't as good as the 1st book. Really liked layala with thane...didn't need the dark mage to come in and create a love triangle.

This book was definitely more YA. It was slow for about 80% of the book and then the last 50 or so pages the plot really picked up. It ended on the worst cliffhanger ever 🙄. And book 3 doesn’t come out until later in the year. If we’re lucky.
Likes: the gods aspect. The characters (tif especially). The worlds.
Dislikes: felt childish at times. Lack of spice. Overall pace of the book (too slow and then we go from 0-100 in a split second).

Well that was a book. I really enjoyed the first book in this series. This one was tougher. It felt too long. They could have cut out a lot of the middle of this. The last hour (I listened via audio) was action packed and really fun but it was a bit of a slog to get there. My big issue with this book series is the cliff hangers. These books end smack in the middle of the best moments. But my biggest complaint of all is the statement “Maker above” The damn characters say it ever other sentence. It made my eye twitch every time.
