The 2nd installment of this series was excellent! I love Layala & Thane! I did not see the twists coming and I can’t wait for the rest of the series!

I really enjoyed the first book in this series and I was dying to know what happens next - however, this installment didn’t hit the mark for me.

I received the audiobook through NetGalley and I don’t know what it was but this just didn’t do it for me. They narrators were fine, but I didn’t care for the way their parts were pieced together - it felt a bit disjointed and certainly not conversational as meant.

The story was okay. It was a solid continuation but that’s all - nothing amazing happened and like I said the narration just really didn’t hit for me.

While I like the plot of this book, and the highly intense ending, I feel like the writing in this novel fell a little short compared to the first one. There were so, so many rhetorical questions (paragraphs at a time). It was as though the questions were being used to push along the plot/ make the reader have questions, even though the plot should be doing that on its own. I loved the end and will be reading the third novel when it comes out, but this is something that made it less enjoyable.
