I thought this book was really well written. It is only my second Margaret Atwood book and I am starting to fall in love with the uniqueness to each of her novels. Normally I stay clear of Non-fiction but have found her books to be just the right amount of non-fiction.
Several Goodreads posts said this could be read as a standalone novel even though it's the second part of a trilogy. I don't agree because the book just ends mid-scene, which was disappointing. I was hoping to get some closure in the last pages because by that time I was not really committed anymore to reading another book in the series. Unfortunately, it turns out there was no closure to be found after 400+ pages.
Even though there was some very good writing in this book, the world building did not convince me and even annoyed me at times because it was so repetitive. The sermons by Adam One were boring (I started skipping them towards the end), ditto for the hymns. So, even though I would like to know what happens next to Toby and Ren, I won't pick up [b:MaddAddam|17262203|MaddAddam (MaddAddam, #3)|Margaret Atwood|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1366394020l/17262203._SX50_.jpg|17613051] to find out.
