I absolutely Love Ivy! She is trying to discovery herself and figure out what she believe in. It is such an important lesson. I was bawling during the last chapter but there is hope...and a sequel. Which I am currently reading!

3.5/5 StarsThis book surprised me. I went into thinking that this was just going to be another dystopian. Well I was both wrong and right, while the story seemed and felt like it was something I had already read, the way it was written made it seem almost new and exciting. I found the story to be very predictable, I was correctly able to guess most what was happened, and the overall story was lacking in background information. Nothing was very really told, and the same 5 things kept getting repeated over and over. I would have liked some more background information on the past, Ivy's father, Bishops father, and what exactly the entire feud between them is. If arranged marriages are there only issues then its time they looked some things over. I also wanna know more about life beyond the fence(though book two should help with that), but what makes it for frightening? Also if they don't like the way the society is being run how come we only here of 3 people opposing it? And those 3 people are all related to each other, so why don't we know about more people against how everything is run? You'd think we would hear about groups of people getting together planning on overthrowing the president. I feel like this book had such potential, but was lacking in many aspects that would allow this to be a really good book.
Even with all my issues with the book, I really enjoyed it. It was a super fun and face-paced read. It is one of those stories that pulls you in from page one and never wants to let you go. I liked Bishop as a character, he was a unique character to follow, though I wish we had gotten to learn more about him, I still have no idea what kind of work he does during the day. I liked Ivy, but she wasn't my favorite. She was too influenced by her father and sisters thinking, that she was unable to fulling think for herself.
All in all I enjoyed this book, and I am dying to get my hands on the second one to see what is all going to happen.

I got more than I was expecting out of this and it kinda blew me away, but I can't commit to five stars for some reason I can't place quite yet.

The Book of Ivy was everything I was hoping it to be and more. I mentioned to my parents that I wanted this book but I didn't expect them to remember and give it to me for Christmas. So, while my siblings where opening their presents I was diving into this dystopian world.

I struggled in the first few chapters because it was slow, which was necessary for the world building. But it quickly picked up. Amy created a dystopian world that was easy to picture as well as an amazing set of characters. The Book of Ivy wasn't you typical dystopian though. It was different, it wasn't a world that is so built up with new technology and evil dictators, but a world like our eerily own.

The characters were exceptionally well done. I loved seeing the growth of the characters from the beginning of the novel to the end. Ivy started out the book as a girl on a mission and all through out it we can see that she begins to question her orders and whether doing what she told is the best choice or not. Bishop was perfect. He is my new book boyfriend. He isn't actually perfect, he has his faults of course. Amy created characters that I was able to fall in love with as I read.

The romance in this book was amazing. I haven't read a book with a slow burn romance in it in a long time. The slow burn with the romance worked well with the story, considering Ivy went into their marriage with the plans on killing him. She never planned on falling in love with Bishop. 0

The Book of Ivy is one of my favorite reads of 2014. (This review was written before New Years!) That is hurts my heart that I have to wait a year for the next book in the series. The cliff hanger was painful, and left me almost in tears for both Ivy and Bishop.

Fantastic read. I loved the buildup between Bishop and Ivy. I loved the concept of the post apocalyptic society and the tension this society caused. I loved everything about this book.
