It’s giving if Blair Witch met In the Tall Grass (or Trees in this case). I was hella intrigued and curious the whole time. I loved how the story was spun in different ways, keeping that creepy vibe up until the end. The last page might have been the most intense cuz it left me with such a sense of hopelessness all I could do was laugh.

I love a good historical fiction horror novel and this one scratched that itch perfectly. The book goes back and forth between soldiers in the English civil war and the researchers that are trying to figure out what happened to them in the modern era. This book has a sort of lost in the woods meets unseen monster vibe that I really liked.
I listened to the audiobook and enjoyed it. Would recommend.

Concept was really neat. The delivery was hard to follow and left me feeling it was all a little anticlimactic

Thank you to NetGalley and Solaris for letting me enjoy this early digital copy in exchange for my honest review.
I think this book has a great premise, interesting set up and I read it fairly quickly but for some reason, it didn’t hook me fully. The dual POV’s went back and forth through time and that may have something to do with it. There was also not one (or even two) distinct narrator(s) so that made it hard to connect with anyone in particular.

An interesting concept and I'm usually a fan of books with dual narratives but this one just never really clicked with me in that I never really connected with any of the characters and also didn't feel like there was ever a really satisfying explanation for everything that was going on either. Still a decent enough read with some good scenes throughout but definitely not something I'll remember a few months from now.
