This book was so cute! And as a ‘half-n-half’ myself I related so much to Darius and his time visiting “home”.

This book made me feel feelings 🥰
Definitely one to reread & recommend!

“Your place was empty before. But this is your family. You belong here.”

Aaaahhh.
I love the Bahrami family. Everyone is so sweet and loving and supportive. I love Darious. I thought this would be a romance novel but it’s really just the story of a boy navigating his identity and his depression. He’s so sweet and creative, and such a good brother 🥺.

this book really hit hard in the best way. although i'm not Persian, so much of darius' culture presented throughout the novel really reflected my own. darius' experience in visiting his home country and wanting to connect more with his culture is something that really resonated with me, as did the discussion around having mental health issues in a non-white family.

overall, this was a great read that really connected with me, and i even almost teared up at points.

I loved this book, cried my way through the last half in good and bad ways. Very family centered, makes you reflect on your own family.

This book surprised me! I thought it wouldn’t be that interesting but especially about 1/2 the way through, I had developed a connection with the characters that made me want to see what happened. This isn’t the most lyrical or poetic of books, which is what I usually like to read. I would also say that some of the chapter endings, which have a repetitive structure, aren’t as emotional as they might have been planned to be. Still, the plot is very interesting and each character is developed in a way that we can all relate to some parts of them and want better for them. It was sweet and I can’t wait to read the sequel ❤️
