Wow. Never in a million years would i expect A SCHOOL LECTURE to get me out of my reading slump. To be honest i’ve never actually finished school readings before. But something about this one was different, even if the writing was pretty basic, as to be expected for a book that was probably written for young primary kids ( i live in a non native english speaking country) something made me FEEL something.
The moment when Jonas realized that his dad lied to him and was actually killing babies, and release wasn’t this happy ceremony, got me starring at the page for a while. Also the one scene that REALLY got me crying, for no real reason too, is the fact that the old receiver in training, Rosemary, ended up being the Givers daughter.
Anyways this book was so good, i just finished reading it and some stuff are still unclear to me,
like the ending with the sled and stuff i don’t really understand if Gabe and Jonas made it to where they wanted ?
anyways I‘ll definetly have to think more about this book. For the fact that my english teacher really sucks, i’m so happy i got to read this book. I think this is the first dystopia I‘ve ever read too, so that’s cool. Overall great book, if the writing was better maybe 5 stars, but it’s at a good 4 stars now.

It’s a really easy read and it’s a classic dystopian. The community is to protect the society from harm, but the main character decides that it does more harm than good… Or does it?

Y'all this is a series???

The Giver was such a charming little book. It was bleak, it was quick, and I enjoyed the main character. I am a very big fan of mentor-student relationships so that was also interesting.

This has been on my mental TBR for so long, I am glad I checked it off. I do wish it was a little bit longer, I liked the ending but I would have loved to spend a little bit more time with Jonas.

Yeah, cute (but with the intention of being bleak)
