Very nicely written but such long chapters. There are only 6 chapters in the whole book which make it so much trickier to read for me.
Book 2 in the series. Details the downfall of Anne Boleyn.

I enjoyed this more than Wolf Hall, but I am a firm believer that you need to read Wolf Hall to appreciate the full character development. These books are well worth the effort.

I loved Wolf Hall but I didn't love this one. Thomas Cromwell is still an amazing and inspiring central figure but I got a wonderful sense of him in the last book and this one didn't add to his character for me. Anne Boleyn's end dragged on through these pages - I was ready to jump a bit faster into the saga of the Tudors.

I liked this even better than Wolf Hall and am looking forward to the next book! Being "privy" to Thomas Cromwell's inner thoughts made this an engaging read.

This is still my favourite book out of the three. Simply outstanding.

Thomas Cromwell navigates the court of Henry VIII as Henry loses interest in Anne Boleyn. More excellent insights into a complex personality finding his way through complex problems, told with engaging and evocative prose, and enough humor to enlighten the grim subject of political assassination.
