I thought this was just a writing research book for me so that I could better understand the stages of body decomposition. But Mary Roach wrote this, so I loved it because of its charm, humour, and heart despite the subject matter. Her writing subtly guides us into spiritual thinking about the connection between our bodies and souls as a tool to gauge how we feel about that subject. I really liked this.

Mary does a great job making a morbid topic hilarious and enjoyable. Lot's of interesting stuff that I didn't know. It's obvious that she's done a ton of research.

Super interesting book that looks at what happens to the bodies of people who have donated their bodies to science. I was shocked to learn all the different places one’s body could end up for the sake of science. While shocking, the practice has been key throughout history for learning about the human body.

This was a really interesting read! There were so many things I didn't know or had never even considered about the funeral industry, the use of cadavers in things like safety testing and a lot of historical information about how we treat death and burial. It might be a little grotesque if you have a weak stomach though.
