Good information, fairly engagingly presented. Knocking one star for misogynistic language and attitude and stereotyping.

An entertaining analysis of The Hero's Journey; both of which are compulsory reading for every artist, but they should not be used as rulebooks.

While Joseph Campbell's book is the standard for understanding the mythic structure thread that weaves through every culture in the world, the Writer's Journey provides the practical translation of a much more complex book. Through examples, Vogler demonstrates how popular movies follow a similar structure and mythical themes, a useful exercise for both understanding and identifying the same patterns in other movies, and for using the structure in my own writing.

If you're writing fiction, particular screenplays, this book is a must read.

Interessante, insegna molti aspetti importanti di come creare storie e cosa tenere conto. Mi aspettavo qualcos'altro ma l'ho trovato davvero molto utile

4.5 stars. This was definitely a product of the nineties, especially in the way gender was handled and the heteronormativity of the examples. But it was more erasure than anything else, and overall this was a really useful book that was actually pretty entertaining to read. It helped me through NaNoWriMo, and I'll definitely come back to it in the future.

This book is not only a great writing manual but a great life manual. I think I could have saved years of therapy and bills by just reading this and grasping the concept of the journey and its processes.

Must have! So buy it!

Ironically what I liked least of this book was the hero’s journey. I liked the explanation on archetypes and his tips on how to spot a good story.

This is a great book if youre only starting to write. I get ehy some people hate it, but Infound bits of it rather useful.

A rather basic book in plot and characters, but a good introductory book nonetheless.

3.5 Stars. (Good)

Just a copy of Campbell's The Hero with a Thousand Face, but for modern readers.
