Good start to the series. Two misfit cops in NYC are paired up & "promoted" to handle cold case files. He's a bit of a dinosaur, she's a woman who *gasp* dares to speak her mind. I really enjoyed their interaction & there's a cracking old mystery to unravel. Solid police procedural with a slight nod towards the hardboiled end of the spectrum & I've already picked up books 2 & 3.

This was an entertaining romp which I read quickly, but the story was all over the place. The suspects were a cast of thousands, and it was a roller coaster ride of conflicting evidence with lots of twists at the end. But the logic just didn't hang together, and too many elements were implausible.

This was an extremely fun cop story. NYPD detective getting on up in his years gets reassigned to cold case files with a young brash female partner. A really good conspiracy whodunnit with a great cast of characters and lots of action. Well worth the read !

It was cheap.
I read it to see if I'd like the series.
It was so straight forward but studded with some coincidence / intuition that didn't feel earned.
I might give the series one more shot to see if it gets better and more complex.

This was a fun, quick read. I look forward to continuing this series and see how these characters develop.
