I really enjoyed reading this book! It put a smile on my face and opened me to a subject I had never heard about before. It was a sweet story that won’t take long and takes your mind away from where you are. My one big complaint is that the main character is doing community service for the dumbest “crime” that would in no way warrant a threat of juvie. But that’s pretty small. So overall it was a good read!

Love love love this book. If every book I read could be like this book then I would be so happy! Of course, historical fiction is one of my favorite genres. The mixing of two "orphan" stories is done in a way that was seamless. I can't wait to learn more about Orphan Trains.
I loved this book. I loved the characters and the story even though it is heartbreaking to think of all those children sent on trains to hopefully find new families.

3.5, rounding to 4. This was an aspect of history I was unfamiliar with and it is both fascinating and tragic. I wish I had a little more of Vivian's story, and less of Molly's, but I saw the parallels and they were a little too obvious at times.
I really enjoyed Niamh's/Dorothy's/Vivian's story and found all of its elements to be very compelling, but I thought Molly's story paralleled it much too closely. It would have been nice to see that they had some things in common, but not so many things. In the author's interview after the story, she says at first she didn't realize their lives were so similar, but in my view, once she did realize, she really should have done something about it. Instead of having two great perspectives that complement each other, we really only have one great perspective and its mirror image, albeit many years later. This was a good book and a quick read, but with a little revision would have been better.
