I’m so glad I’m finally done with this series. Someone told me Tolkien didn’t feel like he needed an editor and now I understand why these books are the way they are.
This is a good book. It’s a solid ending to an extensive saga. I like how it ends. I like where Sam goes. I like how Merry and Pippin stay celebrated. and I like that Frodo just can’t fit in anymore. He’s been too badly hurt to stay.
The book’s very different from the movies. The movies narrow down but I’m sad they cut out all of the happenings in the Shire.
All in all, glad I’ve read this series. Glad to be done with it too.
