I’m sorry to say, this was not the book for me. It frustrated me so many times. I stopped reading it maybe four times all together.
It felt I’m like the author had all these plot points and ideas that they’d thought would sound cool but didn’t plan how to explain them. They’d just figured it out when they got there. It read more like middle school fan fiction. Like they had a word count goal and just wrote until they got there. It was much longer than it needed to be and would have massively benefited from more thoughtful editing.
I read the words “piss” and “fish” to settle me for a lifetime. I get you found a phrase that you liked that showed how people felt about the main character, but geez.
And the main messages *checks notes* bullying is bad and rich people hate poor people. Groundbreaking. What’s next, florals for spring?
The only thing I liked about the story was the queer representation. You don’t see a lot of ace characters and it was nice to see one included, even if they were a minor character.
All in all, this book will not be the ship I go down with.
