It was a fun short read and I really liked all the characters, special shout out to Peter. The scene with the teeth was the best by far!
The resolution was a bit too expedited and I didn't care for the epilogue, but overall a good slasher book.

This fast paced read is a perfect horror story! As well as being a thrilling read, there's a lot of really good focus on how surviving something can impact you for a long time afterwards, and how it affects everyone around you.

At various times I suspected just about everyone, which is a sign of just how well this is written! There are plenty of red herrings and possible suspects and I went back and forth over a few of them as some things changed and as event shappened, and I finally did NOT get it right! I'm usually fairly on the ball on these, so I'm very impressed at this one.

The quick pace will make this suitable for someone who likes this style but wants a quicker read, and I think it's going to do really well. I can't wait for it to go on sale.

There's the bones of a great story in this book. Unfortunately, the writing pulls it down quite a bit. It's so repetitive and underdeveloped. It kind of read like a first draft. I think with some cutting of extraneous information and more practiced, mature writing, Dietrich could tell some fantastic queer horror stories.

This is very much a story to read if you like cheesy B horror slashers a la I Know What You Did Last Summer or Sorority Row. There's not a whole lot of characterization and it's pretty melodramatic, but that's the nature of this specific type of slasher, so I can't fault it that.

I will give it credit for being way more violent that I thought it would be given that it's YA. It's very stabby, which I loved. I also loved how wholesome the fraternity was; it was honestly very adorable.

Overall, always down to support queer horror, but I do wish the writing had been a bit stronger. A fun way to pass an afternoon, but it's not a story that's going to stick with me.

2.5-3 ⭐ ? Tbh? The hell if I know what I wanna rate this.

This might be a train wreck of a book, but it's one I was entertained enough by to ride it all the way til the end.

Thank you to NetGalley and Macmillan Children’s Publishing Group for an advanced digital copy.

Gay YA thriller/horror…count me in! I think there is a lot here that could have gone really badly. However, I love the way this was written. I was constantly changing who I thought the killer would be and actually guess incorrectly. Darn! I do with there was a little more depth to the reasoning and a better build-up to the reveal. I think a good reveal should have the reader get there right before the characters do. Maybe I wasn’t paying enough attention, but it definitely had to be revealed to me. Overall, I really love this story and, with the cliffhanger, I am curious if there will be a sequel.

I had a lot of fun with this one! I will say I might be rounding up but I can appreciate a simple premise being executed well and feeling like some good gay representation without being gay being the trauma of the MC.

We follow a murder spree victim Sam as he enters college two years after the events that traumatized him and sent him into a deep depression. He gets wrapped up in Rush as a re-entering life sort of trope and genuinely gets invested in the brothers he is meeting and connections/healing ensues, but of course it cannot be that simple and copycat killer starts targetting the brothers surrounding sam, while also ensnaring Sam in his evil deeds. This is also happening parallel to Sam finding love with Oren a brother who is a year older than him.

That is the rough premise. Overall this was a really fun novel with strong pacing and the writing style while not the most impressive was sgood at keeping that pacing up and providing enough dialogue to connect with the cast of characters and feel connnected to the world while also keeping the pacing going at a blinding pace as the whole novel minus the prologue and epilogue really only take place in like 3 weeks max. The villain reveal was good even though its a little unbelievable that the perpatrator could do everything they were doing given their access to resources, but thats fiction for you.
