Wow I loved this book so much. It's probably my favourite in this series by far- It's dark. I think that it's one of the darkest ones, if not the darkest one in the series. It starts off with a bang - literally - as a meteor hits and vipes away half of the people and animals - and I loved how dark the villain got. I also loved the pacing of this one a bit more. Let's see how the final book wraps up the series I guess.

This penultimate adventure in the Chronicles of Ancient Darkness series starts with a shocking event which shakes the forest and clans to the core. We then join Torak, Renn and our other favourite characters as they set out on perhaps their most high stakes adventure yet - to save the whole forest.
This book was a thrilling adventure and reminded me why I fell in love with this series as a child. The feeling of delving into the lives of these neolithic Hunter gatherers and seeing them make sense of the world around them in their own way is one of the major charms of this series.
It's a well deserved return to form and sets up the tale for the grand finale, which I'm very much looking forward to reading.
