Great way to introduce Iko as the badass she is, but staying as lovable as ever. Dome major cheese. 15% of the story is foreshadowing for the next books and it stops before it really begins.

Excellent extension of the story. I really enjoyed the art.

I loved getting more insight into Iko, too!

I'm not usually a huge fan of graphic novels, but I had to give this one a chance because it was a continuation of the Lunar Chronicles! It was kinda cool to see how the characters looked compared to my imagination and it was fun to get more of the story from Iko's perspective. Can't wait for the next volume...

I didn't love this as much as the main Lunar Chronicles books, but it was still quite enjoyable. I feel like this volume ended in a weird place in the story. Also, the font makes all of the letter E look like the letter B, so I kept wondering what Barth was.

Read my review at Bookish Adventures.

What a fun way to continue exploring the world of the Lunar Chronicles. Meyer's masterful writing translates well over to a graphic novel, and the intimacy and personalities of the characters retain in the artistry.

It's been a few years since I read the Lunar Chronicles, so I had to refresh about what happened in the last book, but the graphic novel does a good job reminding the reader about the events previous to it. Iko takes on a new role in tracking down the escaped hybrid soldiers, and continues to struggle with being an automaton in a human world.

I'm excited to read the sequel!

Unfortunately I didn’t enjoy this book as much as I thought I would. I adored the Lunar Chronicles and was excited when I found out that there was a graphic novel featuring Iko. The main problem was that I just personally couldn’t get past this art style. It’s not bad or anything and I can totally see it working with a different type of graphic novel. I just don’t think it fits well with this story or with the characters. They all have the same generic faces and don’t look like how I picture them. It makes it hard to reconcile these characters with the same ones that I knew from the Lunar Chronicles. It’s very distracting.

Another problem with this book: At the beginning it basically gave an ENTIRE recap of the Lunar Chronicles. Which cool, that’s useful for anyone who hasn’t read the series. The problem being, it’s SO much to go back through and honestly if you haven’t read the Lunar Chronicles you probably shouldn’t read this as it is essentially a sequel. It took up so much time.

The things I did enjoy:

-Kinney and Iko. Even back in the Lunar Chronicles I saw a potential of a hate-to-love arc and I am here for this. It is simply because of that that I am probably going to read the second as well.
-The characters. I just love them so much. And it’s so great that Iko is getting her own story!
-The plot: it’s awesome to see what is happening now that Cinder is queen and it makes sense that there wouldn’t be a seamless transition. It’s believable and engaging. Plus, great action scenes!

Overall: I just wish that the author had written this as a novella or an extra novel. It would have been more detailed, could have gone into more depth and I wouldn’t currently be struggling with my issues of the art style.

Such a fantastic companion to The Lunar Chronicles! Really awesome, dynamic artwork and fabulous writing, as always. There's action, adventure, politics, diplomacy, and a smattering of romance, to keep it interesting! Definitely a must read for fans of the series.
