A nice addition to the Lunar series!
adventurous funny lighthearted tense fast-paced
Plot or Character Driven: A mix
Strong character development: Complicated
Loveable characters: Yes
Diverse cast of characters: Yes
Flaws of characters a main focus: Complicated

I love these characters and I love getting to see how the political tensions posed in the novels is resolving. I’m also so excited to read from Iko’s perspective, and the graphic novel is the perfect format for the constant action packed sequences. I enjoyed it and I can’t wait to read the second volume!

read it in only 2 hours!! Marissa Meyer continued my favorite series of all time and made it a graphic novel!!! so fun!! Iko is an excellent character to have the story developed by her! The Android who has feelings goes on a journey to catch the mutated who served Levana. It's right after the end of [b:Winter|13206900|Winter (The Lunar Chronicles, #4)|Marissa Meyer|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1470057036s/13206900.jpg|18390887] and before the last short story of [b:Stars Above|25689074|Stars Above (The Lunar Chronicles, #4.5)|Marissa Meyer|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1472473049s/25689074.jpg|45517469] (Something Old Something New) . The ending was woooooooo and I can't wait to read the second part [b:Wires and Nerve, Volume 2: Gone Rogue|34930815|Wires and Nerve, Volume 2 Gone Rogue|Marissa Meyer|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1494468777s/34930815.jpg|52064739].
Spoiler OMG Wolf was going to propose to Scarlet!! Why didn't you?!?! You ARE worthy of her!!!
I have to admit that it was very different from what I usually read; and I first thought I wasn't going to like the style of it or the format it was made in. It struck me how much I adored this short novel, so for those who don't think it has enough "potential" compared to the rest to the Lunar Series...give it a chance! You won't regret it!

I mean, how could I rate this anything else? I love this series, and I LOVE these characters so much. I just do. And this was so great! It ties in perfectly to both the end of Winter, and some of the things we learn in Stars Above. And I do really enjoy this art style. It's simple, but attractive, and the character designs were so perfect. I just loved it and can't wait for the next one!

Very cool to get back into the world that is the Lunar Chronicles!

God save me. Marissa Meyer has written a really bad book. The story is boring and the drawing horrendous. I hope she never tries to write a graphic novel again.

Another amazing book by the amazing Marissa Meyer. It is also accompanied by amazing illustrations.

So this was okay. I didn't understand how Iko became some big crime fighter. That seemed a bit much for me.

Oh i missed them😳😊

*spoilers abound*

My problems with the Lunar Chronicles, which simmered in the back of my mind until book four, are show-cased openly here.

The forced heterosexuality.

Iko, to me, is an easily queer-able character; to assume she is straight is to assume she was programmed to be straight, but the whole point is that Iko is inherently "defective" because she is so human. She's paired with a boy who treats her horribly! He is "racist" in this society where race is divided along human vs. non (ironic since he's a Lunar) and she wants to kiss him because she's seen girls treated badly by boys in the media! If this isn't the perfect moment for a queer-awakening I don't know what is. Besides, her relationship with Tressa has chemistry and cuteness completely lacking for our romance-queen in her forced pairing with Tressa's brother.

The plot itself is very interesting, though Meyer is very lightly addressing issues of class, race, ableism, and responding with violence. I get it for the purposes of the story, but the whole disability-parallel thing with the wolves begins to grate on the nerve, particularly as Wolf "proves" his humanity by being counter to his nature, while those faithful to their "disability" are seen as militant. Like I said, within the story it all makes sense, you apply the lessons of these books in our society and its ostracizing to "others."

Finally, the art is so lazy and so monochrome. Scarlett's hair is dark, every woman's face shape is the same, and I was greatly looking forward to seeing Iko's multi-color locs but was disappointed. Also, the fashions are the simplest, saddest things, or else the bodice has, I kid you not, squiggles drawn on it, like a child would do. All of this seems wrong for Iko's books; she has *the most* character, which should translate a bit more stupendously imho.

Iko's personality does shine through, her dialogue is the best! This was the only thing I really enjoyed.
