The art of graphically novelizing a film is problematic at the best of times. How much can you give away versus how much of the reader's expectations can you satisfy? After all, you are literally emulating the silver screen on page with no original artistry of your own.

But the artists of Batman Begins prove adept at not only novelizing Christopher Nolan's trailblazing rendition of the caped crusader but also provide several more legendary tales of the Dark Knight which cement what we already knew-Batman is far from finished. The artwork is effective and fluid as it seamlessly transitions from one panel to the next. The colors are bold and picturesque whenever necessary while the stories are pure Batman: frightening as well as empowering.

Bleh. I can't say that I was a huge fan.

The source material has been chopped up pretty heavily, with lots ridiculously condensed or skipped altogether. In a couple of places, it seems like the writer didn't understand the script as the lines just don't make sense. The art is not bad, but doesn't seem right for this title. When the story's based on something that I know primarily as live action, I'd rather see a more realistic style.

The additional stories in the back are okay, but nothing great.
