One of my favorite reads this year by far. As a lesbian, accepting that the community perpetuates a standard of peace that is nonexistent, dismissive of the humanity everyone (lesbian or otherwise) is capable of was crushing. This is a concept that the author was able to put into eloquence with ease. I felt anguished and comforted and heard most of all throughout the entirety of this memoir. the statistics the author would point out every so often were enlightening and worthy of future research. the allegory of this dream house— this figment of presumed comfort that in actuality was a means of confinement and hurt and so much more was riveting. this book was clever and astounding— it did a wonderful job of illuminating abuse in lesbian relationships, a topic that is deserving of a meaningful conversation.
