Felt like this one was a slow burn...
About half way I’d already worked out who her master was going to be. So that didn’t come as a shock.
I was hoping we might have some happiness at the end. But then I remembered this is Kitty and she certainly doesn’t do HEA.
Overall I enjoyed it. I’ll read the next one.

Not a bad story from Kitty Thomas and the ending is most surprising.

SpoilerIt started with Vivian's daily "night" routine with Michael, her husband. Then Michael sends her to a therapist to cure her "unhappiness". Who knew the massage therapist, Anton is a person that open up Vivian's sexual desires.

Anton slowly open up Vivian's heart to the dom/sub relationship and then brings her to The House to meet/train with guys up in the house. It is said to Vivian that she would be sold to the highest bidder at the end of her training in the house.

Who knew that person is actually her husband! Michael was the one that planned the whole thing with Anton because Michael himself found it boring to live in a daily routine. Imagine the shock on Vivian's face when she found out it was all a plan by her husband.

Well....overall the ending is the most surprising.

 I can see how this would be appealing to some people and I don't mean to judge but I have to rant.

Sorry for the swearing. (I just spend an hour reading a book that made me want to commit homicide. :) )

I expected to like this book. I read the synopsis and was excited, what I didn't read was the tags.
I would have loved this if it was hentai or some shit, but when I imagine real people I just... want to vomit. When they're drawn I can have some hope that people don't do this stuff ( referring to the non-consensual stuff, not the kinky stuff).

Also, I read reviews with spoilers to see if there is a twist or if they die ( which I would love to happen :D ) and no they don't die nor is the twist in the direction I want so... Anyway, I read to 23% and I'm gonna stop before I hurt myself or someone else.

Was not expecting the ending and seems abrupt; kind of dragged out

“Someday you’ll be glad we met and that I made you face yourself.”

I'm quite sure there are better ways to make someone face themselves without kidnapping them and turning them into sexual slaves.

Fair warning, this book is dark erotica, and if you don't want to read about non-con, rape, and kidnapping, you might want to stay away from this book and review. While I don't necessarily have any troubles reading these types of books, I often find myself needing a few things to be okay with it. My line to what is okay is rape. I can do non-con in some instances, but that's another story. But yes, my line is drawn at rape. Because of that, I can have difficulties accepting non-con. But what bothers me even more is when the author makes it seem okay, because the victim is aroused. There are endless cases of rape victims that become aroused when raped; it is a defense mechanism, and it doesn't make rape okay. That's the biggest trouble I had with this book. While our heroine is a submissive, that's hidden deep inside her. To force her to face this part of herself, Anton, a massage therapist, rapes her and forces her into the role as submissive. Anton later kidnaps Vivian to train her to a proper submissive and sell her to a new Master. Vivan is not the only woman being taken by Anton.

Next point of order: the kidnapping of women and selling them. Why is this not handled more properly? That's what makes me believe this story is meant as a rape fantasy. Because Anton and his friends have a mansion where they have women and train them to become sexual slaves. Human trafficking is also not okay. Yet, this tiny detail is not even looked upon as a trouble. That's not winning any points with me. I mean, human trafficking is horrible, and this story kind of makes it seem, well, normal. I'm not down with that. I will repeat myself again: human trafficking is not okay, in any form.

And last, because this is a big pet peeve with me, and I was giving this author one chance after Big Sky: I am not convinced this author either don't know what feminism is, or that she's deliberately gives her female characters a messed up version of it. Regardless, these characters would be the reason so many people are against or suspicious of feminists. Since this seems to be a recurring issue, I doubt I'll pick up another book by this author again.

I'm going to be brief in my review for now.....

Great mind-fuck........ Truly......

The End

------------------------------------------------------

The following Review is dedicated to my girl, RangerGirl. This one's for you chick!

Vivian and her Husband are in a rut.... as in Vivian doesn't like to rut with her husband. Their marriage is strained, and Vivian is feeling trapped and isolated.

Michael (Viv's husband) gets fed up and sends her to a Sex therapist, who passes her on to a masseuse (to relax.... uh huh *Wink wink*).
Things do not go according to plan, and against her will Vivian finds herself being blackmailed into having an ongoing affair with Anton.

I'm sorry chick, but I cannot give you more, because that would be too spoilerish. Lets just say that things go from bad to worse for our poor girl Viv, until the stunning conclusion. Total mind-fuckery. Enjoy.

Some non-con; dub-con; cheating;
kidnapping;
and lots of hot sex.
