I LOVED The Great Alone, so I picked this up. IMO the WWII setting is overdone in pop culture, but I appreciated this take on it, especially since it was based on a true badass female heroine. Compelling characters & a fast-moving plot with surprises kept me captivated - I finished this in 24 hours.

Amazing. I love how it’s written from the women’s perspectives. Too often, we see only the men’s part in the war.

The descriptions were very graphic. It paints a very sobering picture of the injustice (to put it mildly) and mistreatment of people. Brought back images of Schindler’s List to my mind.

Also, absolutely captivating heroines. This one is one for the women!
