I was dubious going to a new narrator for this one, but it honestly may have been my favorite Lady Astronaut novel. I couldn't stop listening.

Notes: told from Nicole’s perspective on the moon takes place at the same time as The Fated Sky - we see the fraught political landscape that we only saw glimpses and hints and consequences of during The Fated Sky. Earth Firsters are actively sabotaging the IAC and moon colony. Stick with Nicole as she ferrets out the saboteur(s) with Myrtle, Eugene, Hamid, and Helen. Relentless perfectly describes this books - one after another problems pop up - but at the same time it doesn’t feel overdone. An absolute rollercoaster emotions while set perfectly in the sexist and racist times of 1960s, expertly crafted AU. Excellent continuation of the Lady Astronaut novels!!

Like The Fated Sky before it, this book was full of relentless action, always moving forward, things continually getting worse until almost the last moment. At least this time I was prepared, and didn't try to read it on vacation! Still a very strong series with excellent ideas and very well written.

I was a little hesitant going in to The Relentless Moon because I love Elma and was nervous that I wouldn't enjoy a Lady Astronaut Universe book if it had a different main character. Thankfully Kowal's writing was excellent as always so I quickly grew to love Nicole.

The Relentless Moon really had it all -- a high-stakes mystery, espionage, politics, and lots of mishaps in space. It made me beyond happy to see more of Myrtle, Eugene, and Helen as I'd really missed them in The Fated Sky. The Lady Astronaut Universe continues to get more fascinating as the political impacts of life after the meteor deepen in each book.

Also, I have to add that The Relentless Moon made me sob when I least expected it. I'm not a big book crier so every time it happens, I have to tip my hat at the author.

The Lady Astronaut Universe books continue to delight me. Kowal's writing is impossible to put down, the characters are lovable, and the external conflicts are always fascinating. I'll gladly keep reading these books as long as Kowal wants to write them.

I wasn’t ready to pivot from Elma (though in retrospect, the way Fated Sky ended should have made it pretty clear her arc was done), but I ended up enjoying this book the most out of the three. The body copy does it absolutely no favors: not only does Nicole not really mind her husband advancing his political career, it’s really a side issue next to her active involvement in disrupting saboteurs in the space program. It’s a spy thriller more than anything, while still making room for human struggles large and small.
