When I picked this up I thought I was going to read a fairytale retelling of the story ‘The Juniper Tree.’ I missed that this was a gothic horror retelling somehow. This book is dark and unsettling to say the least. No thank you.

This was fun! Love a Grimm fairy tale. Reid writes gross scenes in a beautiful way and Marlinchen is a character you don’t expect to connect with.
