this very dark story was enjoyable to read, especially in the character aspect (development), Melinda is a good mc and made the book feel very real. I also recommend watching the movie which i loved aswell

Fine YA. Well-written, sympathetically treated subject matter, and a clear, honest voice (albeit a largely unspoken one). I hope no young teenagers need to read this to help them through something similar, but I think it would make a meaningful class text and springboard for discussion.
