I am fully convinced that C.L. Wilson has been godsblessed or something...this story has taken over my entire life. I have not binged a series with this much enthusiasm in quite some time. And for that, I am eternally grateful for the magic that Wilson weaves with her words.

This next installment was strongly recommended by a friend to read directly after Book 1 [Lord of the Fading Lands] as it was originally a combined story. And I am so glad that I did this. Timewise, this helped me understand the character choices/developments knowing that this all happened in a relatively short amount of time.

Not giving out any true context to prevent spoilers, but I love Gaelen. The sacrifices I would make just to breathe his air are endless.

In addition, I just continue to love each character and their role in this world. I loved feeling like I got to know certain characters more in depth, and how many different paths certain characters took. The Evil in this book ramped up as well and tugged at my heart strings a few times.

Lastly, one of the many things I continue to appreciate about this series, is that I feel that no page is a wasted space. Every single event, character, twist, and turn has a reason to be there and I appreciate Wilson for not wasting my time as a reader. I just loved this installment and can not wait to dive into Book 3!

Rereading before going to book three!

I followed along much better this time, and feel that the story is impressive but the covers not so much. I want to redesign the covers but my ability to do is weak and pitiful. I'm now prepared for the third book in the series. Let's continue this shall we? Also Adrian ❤️

3.6 stars out of five. Way to much going on to keep track in this book. I'm unsure if I will finish this series, but I'm curious about the Fey lands and want to see where things go. Perhaps I might just buy this whole series so that I can re-read whenever I am in the mood. Otherwise, I still really love the story and characters and definitely adore the rich worldbuilding!

A decent entry into the "chosen one" trope - but the made up "language" (just phrases here and there without a complete glossary) and the half-developed magic system are keeping me from rating it higher.
