She’s an amazing brave young woman not just because she survived , and kept going but continues the fight for girls education and the fight against terrorism with not war but with education . Her name as the story of her namesake went suits her very well. I hope to accomplish half of what she has.

Amazingly written. Would be lying if I said I didn't cry a few times.

Admittedly it did take me 3 tries before I could finish this book - terrible choice for getting out of a reading slump.

Once I was able to get into it though it turned out to be compelling. Malala's story is one that sticks with you and the way this book bounces between hopeful, inspiring, and funny anecdotes and serious, heart breaking tragedies is so well done. It's a great book to learn about the history of Pakistan as well.

I mean, what can you say. What an incredible woman. And a really beautifully, artfully written book. The politics leading up to her attempted assassination are laid out clearly, and are infused with her warmth and passion and humour.

Key takeaway quote "Sometimes I think it is easier to be a Twilight vampire than a girl in Swat" really dates her experiences as a teen girl in the early 2010s.
