Although I really like Kate Morton, I did not love this book. I thought there were too many subplots throughout the book. I did like most of the characters and the scenery she created made me want to find a place like the Lake House.
Slow start (hence it took me two weeks to read) but honestly did not predict the ending at all!!
I listened on audible, REALLY LONG! Took me a while to get into it but I enjoyed the distraction of a multi-generational mystery. Good for pandemic times.

another good kate morton. the twist at the end was a little too pat for my taste, but overall quite good, with layers of history and family secrets and country estates.

I loved the character development and the way everything morphed from picture perfect lives to reality. I wasn’t shocked by some of the twists but I found them impactful still.
Started slow, got progressively more intense -- so much so I could not put it down.
This was my first Kate Morton book and the only word I can think of to describe her style of writing is "enchanting". A really great read with lots of twists and turns, which is right up my alley. I have only two complaints. The first is that this book felt very long and drawn out. It took me a week to read and I felt that it needed to be edited down a bit. Also, as many other reviewers have stated, everything was tied up just a bit too nicely in the end. I would have liked a little more despair or even just some ambiguity. However, this was still a wonderful book and I can't wait to read more by her!
I really loved this book - super engaging page turner. Then the flurry of happy ever after crap in the last 5 pages knocked it down 2 stars.
