Really enjoyed it. Felt like enemies to lovers done right. The complex grief the character felt was well written. Enjoyed the slow build up to a pretty epic conclusion

Just not as good as the first book. The adventure/challenge the main characters were going through almost seemed like an afterthought that fit the needs to get the main characters to a point. Also, I’m not a super big fan of the switch of POVs between chapters especially when the first book was all one POV. I can see how it was necessary and helped understand the bigger picture but it was hard switching back and forth between the two character because their inner dialogue was so much the same.

I’m in shambles. Raihn and Oraya unfortunately have got me in my FEELS-UH. I can’t deal with them anymore (in a mostly good way) 🥲
I crashed out. I laughed. My jaw dropped. I wanted to cry. I felt… SO many things… 😀😪 (Genuinely. I was not chill for a SECOND while reading this.)
Everything that I liked about the first book (atmosphere, setting, characters) still applies to this one. I also like how large of a role the gods play (in the Crowns of Nyaxia universe at large). It’s SO SICK. This book was a feast for my eyeballs and my brain 😌
I LOVE this universe!!! I am so happy that there are more books because I am SAT and READY FOR MORE‼️

This was buns. There was potential but wtf

The Ashes and the Star-Cursed King was a slightly above average read for me. There were moments I really enjoyed, but it did feel like it could’ve used a tighter edit. The repetition, especially around Oraya’s inner turmoil about her father and her feelings for Raihn, started to drag things down a bit. It felt like the story kept circling the same emotional beats without moving the plot forward much, which made it harder to stay fully engaged.

That said, I really appreciated how the author handled
Oraya’s grief and conflicted love for her father. It wasn’t neat or easy, and I liked that the story didn’t shy away from the messiness of loving someone who’s done awful things.
That emotional complexity gave the book a bit more weight, and made Oraya feel more real to me.

The romance between Oraya and Raihn did eventually win me over, even if it took its sweet time getting there. Once it settled in, it had a nice balance of tension and tenderness. I just wish we’d spent less time in the “I hate him, no I don’t” phase and more time exploring their connection. All up, not a bad read, just one I wish had found its stride a little sooner.

I did enjoy the story and writing but the smut was a real let down. Prefered the first book. Was a bit fluffy. Probably would have enjoyed it more if read at the beginning of my reading journey. This book dragged a bit in comparison for me.

⭐️⭐️⭐️.5 (rounded up)

This was good!! But not to the same standard as Book 1. I liked learning more back story for Oraya. But I felt like I would be really invested and then uninterested and then really invested again. It was up and down for me, but came to a great close on Oraya and Raihn’s story.

Excited to spend Book 3 in a new territory with a newish MC.
