A very happy ending but took a bloody long time to get there.

It feels more like a companion novel than part of the same series. There is at times an almost Pratchett-esque humor to it, but the distance from the charecters and locations the rest if the series taught me to love makes it my least favorite Narnia book so far (reading in publication order)

this is my favorite, so far, of the series; but I do have four more books to read. :-)

I watched The Chronicles of Narnia movies before I started reading this collection, so obviously I didn't know anything about this story, since it's not covered in film. I can say that I really enjoyed it. There were parts that made laugh and parts that left me surprised for being written in a kids book (like ArĂ¡vis storyline). I was also really pleased to read about the Pevensies as Kings and Queens of Narnia (but weirdly Peter didn't make an appearance) and I found myself being more interested in them than in the main plot. I really wished that there was more in this book about them and their reign or that there was a book in the series for that purpose.

Perhaps not as strong as the others, but still quite good.
I really appreciate how things are tied up in the end. I still consider this essential.
