4.5 stars. I was completely and utterly enthralled by the characters in this book.
There were many parts of this that felt like a mirror was being held in front of my face, so I put a post-it on the back cover of this that said "text your therapist" so I'd see it when I finished the book, which was a good idea because oof.
This book is about friends and friendship and the importance of friendships, which are often seen as lesser than romantic or familial relationships. Everyone in this has flaws and messes up and does terrible things to each other sometimes, and I found it realistic and really identified with the narrator because I can be generally awful to people.
Read this!

I really enjoyed this story. It goes back and forth between the past and present between two friends before and after their friendship is over. This would be a great read for someone who has recently or at any time lost someone they were close to because they simply no longer fit into each other's lives.
3.5
TW: bullying
Rep: Black mc, Muslim Bengali American side character with a speech impairment, Black side characters, Chinese American side character, lesbian Korean American side character, hijabi Bengali side character, Indian American side characters, gay side characters
Ahhhh, this was such an angsty read but you can totally tell that from the cover and the title.
And that’s also to be expected if you want to talk about the dissolution of a friendship, which is never easy.
This book was a rollercoaster of emotions: sadness, betrayal, anger and finally forgiveness had major roles in it. That said, the book was still fairly easy to read, the short chapters helped; though I usually do not enjoy reading Now/Then novels, I didn’t mind at all with this one.
I didn’t give this 4 stars because I didn’t like the exaggerate use of gendered insults.

I really liked this book! A story about friendship, love, loss, and forgiveness. The feelings were so real and so relatable, would definitely recommend.
