Ohhh warum dieser Herzschmerz

I didn't finish this one. Honestly don't even remember where I stopped reading. The series started off amazing, I loved the first book, So many twists! The second one was good too, but then the love triangle got too convoluted for me, a very confusing weird love square... sort of.

This series was INTENSE! It was wonderfully written and thought out. The characters develop in such a complete way from book one to book five so that they are genuinely different people by the end. The relationships grow in a relatively organic way as well so that it is not rushed and feels real. I laughed quite a bit and fought tears while reading. The ending was everything! Truly fantastic series that I intend to read all over again.

This series is so good. It's not a pure romance and if that is what you are looking for, you will be disappointed. The romance is there and it is well done but it's slow and complicated. This series is plot heavy, full of other elements that make it rich and a great read. The characters are complex and layered. Don't know where it's going but I fear for some peeps. This series deserves to be reread slowly

So... I'm not really sure what to feel after reading this.

SpoilerI hate the fact that Arran and Kesh had a thing and that Sirius said something along the lines of "When Oberon was with you that was the happiest I've ever seen him." Like... why is everyone falling over themselves for this girl? Let's also not forget that literally Arran and Talen said the same exact thing to Kesh.

"I have wanted this the moment I met you."

… -_- I don't understand the instant appeal of Kesh. I get why Kelle likes her. They've had a lot of ebb and flow in their relationship. I used to think I knew why Talen liked her but now I'm like... does Talen even know her? Or has he just been fixated on the whole I've known what you are this whole time and needed you to set me free and therefore that means I love you? Like... I'm confused. This book has only brought confusion and muddled feelings.

I also don't understand Kesh's reaction to learning the truth about Talen but maybe's that's because I've been the only one actually taking Talen's word at face value where Kesh didn't? Or maybe I just don't understand how Fae twist their words so easily? But he kept saying over and over and over and over again "I'm not who I once was." Obviously whoever he once was had to be bad. Maybe it was presumptuous of me to go that direction instead of the other way (he once was a hero who fell and is no longer worthy of adoration) but that never clicked with what we knew of Talen. So when we finally find out who he is, it clicked into place, but Kesh runs? I don't get. The more I think back on everything, the more I think, sure Talen and Kelle have dodged answering things directly, but they've never betrayed her. Ever. They never misled her or tricked her or steered her down a wrong path.

Even in the last book when Talen goes with Sjora and it comes to light that he scarified himself to keep them safe. Her first instinct was to assume Of course he went with her. He's fae through and through. But then afterwards, when we all find out what really happened, she never lets go of that thought. She has never let go of that thought despite everything that's happened and I find it frustratingly annoying the same way I find Kelle's whole "You've betrayed us I can never trust you" annoying but at least his has more merit, you know?

I don't know. I guess overall, I'm a bit disappointed. I'm glad she finally hooked up with Talen and I liked that Kelle said "I don't mind your feelings are divided and we all know Talen prefers to share." Because ultimately I want her to have both and there not be an issue about it lol. I'm curious where the actual plot is going to go in regards to the seelie, the unseelie, and now that Sol has been involved? But I'm becoming increasingly frustrated with the characters. Depending on how all this ends, I may revoke my recommendation.

When you finish a book by this author, you generally don’t feel all warm and fuzzy. You feel flayed open, shocked, stunned, and all sorts of emotions you don’t expect, and that’s exactly how I felt at the end of this book. And, that’s a good thing, you ask? Yes, it is. This author is an expert at manipulating the reader’s emotions and writing such a fabulous story, you can’t help but be completely invested in the characters’ lives which are nowhere near a life of picket fences and warm apple pie. On to this particular book. This book was a great addition to the series with Kesh rapidly approaching a point of no return. There is movement on the romance front, but if you are looking for a book full of romance, this book isn’t for you. I was stunned at the mini revelations in this book, and I can’t wait to see how Kesh is going to get out of this new wrinkle in her life. I’m sure she will because she always does, even if it’s with more scars, emotional and physical. This book is for you if you love great writing, spectacular characters, and so much emotion you can barely live with the book at the end. Don’t start this series with this book; start at the beginning. Love, love this series, and this book, and I can’t recommend them enough! Thanks to the author for the e-copy which I voluntarily reviewed.

2.5. I still don’t like Kesh, I’m still irritated at a lot of random jumps in the series and a lot of random things that don’t make sense. And yet I keep shelling out full price for these books to continue on in the series. So that says a lot right there.
