Emily Henry

4.07 AVERAGE

 Rating: 4.25 stars

My first adult Emily Henry book and what a great one to start with.

I loved January and Gus and their heartfelt journey individually and together. So much pain, so much hope and so many nuances.

I would’ve rated this even higher but there was a point around halfway where my investment in the story and characters dipped for a bit - but then it picked back up.

Overall, a great character driven story that makes you think and feel and leaves you satisfied.

miscommunication isn't exactly my favorite trope, especially when it feels like they never really find a level ground for actual communication so it's less compelling. the writing is solid and the characters have a pretty good amount of depth to them which is more than most romances i read

that being said

please never give a character the nickname gussy ever again

Really enjoyed this book so much that I finished it in one night. I love a good enemies to lovers trope.

I needed a book like this! It was a great distraction from *looks around* all the shit in the world. This was so easy to fall into. I love January and Gus. Reading about writers is just so validating and cozy and it feels like coming home. I ate up all the tropes and the romance. So sweet.
slow-paced

Meh.
