Unfortynately I did not related or enjoy this as much as so many other readers. I liked the relationship development between January and Gus but was not satisfied by or really understood the reasons behind her father's other life. It is well-written but overall I was not sure what the book was about - I guess it is up to the reader to find how they relate to it.

The perfect length for a flight from Texas to New York, if you’re okay with crying in public on the flight a couple times. Better than other beach reads I’ve read recently - I enjoyed the characters and plot and got invested in the story.

I liked the romance between January and Gus — there was a captivating, silent connection that radiated, that pulled you in. They both carried pain from their lives, but found a way to heal it. To let it fade in the comfort of each other.

What really stood out to me were the letters. The raw way in which they were written helped paint the broken, betrayed relationship between January and her dad in such a beautiful way.

I didn't read Emily's books in order of publication, hence why this book receives a 'lower' rating from me. Don't get me wrong, it's still a wonderful read, but it didn't hit me as hard as Funny Story or Happy Place.

So in my reading journey I endeavor to try a little of every genre and different tropes to see where my interest lies. I got this book from a friend and took it as another opportunity to read a popular book from a well talked about author.

I knew going in that I'm not a big fan of romance but I still had an open mind seeing that Emily Henry is so raved about.

I did not enjoy this book. I was mostly bored, didn't care for the characters too much and just was not invested in the story.

There are a couple interesting moments but overall it was just mid. *Shrugs*
