one of the better, more realistic self-help books out there!

While there were a few chapters that resonated with me, it lacked the depth I was looking for. Most of us will have heard the ideas he covers - that work can very easily bleed into your life, companies will continuously violate your boundaries, and the feeling of not having enough will keep you working. There’s anecdotes and research studies to illustrate. I would’ve loved a more nuanced look and perhaps a cure or at least thought provoking questions to reflect on. But it felt like as soon as a point was made, it was onto the next chapter.

I LOVED and needed this book, at a time in my life when I’m working on redefining my relationship with my career and seeking a new balance in my life. The case studies of workers and the myths about work that the author stitched together provide great fodder for self reflection about how I want to work and the role I want working to play in my life
