This book has an excellent concept, a fairly great execution, and an ending that will make you feel feelings.

Absolutely terrifying novel. Making this story from the perspective of a child made it that much more scary

Bela has a good life she lives with her mommy and daddo and other mommy. Other Mommy used to be really nice, but lately she hasn't been so nice. She really wants to go into Bela's heart. Bela doesn't think she wants other mommy in her heart, but she thinks it might help mommy and daddo be happy again. Because mommy and daddo talk to her when they think she's sleeping and she knows they're not that happy anymore.

The audiobook was really good. It might not be for everyone, but the childish voice telling the stories added to the creep factor. Recommend if you like creepy children books.

8 year old Bella lives with her mommy and daddo  and they are her world. She however also has “other mommy “ an entity that lives in her closet and asks Bella every day if she can go into her heart. When her parents realize other mommy isn’t an imaginary friend and is in fact a real threat to their daughter they must take action to protect her.
Pros: This book is very atmospheric and I like how it tackles the challenges of motherhood, especially when you’re not sure you’re doing a good job. It was a fast easy read.
Cons: Bella is suppose to be 8, but she comes across as a much younger child ( maybe 5). The entire book is from her point of view and although that’s a novelty that works with some books I think this one could have benefited from alternative chapters from her mom Ursula. The style of writing was also very off. Every other sentence was mommy said or daddo said. I also felt the ending was very rushed and honestly confusing. I’m still not sure what happened. This is a solid 3 star, interesting but nothing terribly special. Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the E galley. #netgalley #incidentsaroundthehouse #othermommy

I wanted to love this so much, and I might have... as a movie. The intentionally vague writing style fell flat considering we had all the details of the parents uncomfortable bedtime monologuing, but none of the intense visual descriptions that a child would use to describe something truly unnatural - it felt like an easy way out. I had no idea what I was supposed to be scared of.

It was an incredibly tense read with no real payoff, and an ending that left me so disappointed that I don't honestly know if I'd read another book by this author. If the awful ending, missed potential with the writing style and the atrocious characteristics of Ursula weren't enough to put you off of this book, the over use of the word "piqued" sure as shit will.
