A beautiful little book. It left me with a general sense of gratitude and appreciation for the planet. It was well-written and a joy to read.

Really beautiful story with clear writing. It is a post-apocalyptic speculative fiction novella based in fabulism, rather than fantasy proper. It is not science fiction.

This book was sad, then it got sadder, and then it was the saddest.  As a middle grade read it’s intense. It reminds me of like On the Road but for kids? The end of the world and it’s just this girl and her dad. There’s so much we never learn and that was hard for me. I felt the loneliness and sadness and it was almost too much to get through to finish and enjoy the book.
